Ah, pregnancy… Ah, pre-baby maternity leave… The long, slow days of watching daytime TV, indulging in luxurious baths, eating bucket loads of chocolate and the waiting, waiting, waiting for bubs to arrive. Everyone will say to you, “enjoy it while you can”. They say, “make the most of it, it won’t last, you know!” and you smile, but secretly, you roll your eyes. Yes, I know I’ll be busy. But surely, come on, they must be over-egging it.

A bump in the road (or how not to do pregnancy)

Before I became pregnant I had an image in my head of how it would be. I would be glowing with magical thick pregnancy hair and beautiful, clear pregnancy skin. With my hand resting gently on my neat bump I would slowly and serenely go about my day. I’m sure that for many ladies this is the reality but for some of us things are a bit more difficult.

So here I am – 38 weeks pregnant. Now, I know no one has ever said this would be easy or the most comfortable time of life but I dont think I ever realised how many pillows were about to invade my bed!

One to One: An Alternative Midwifery Service

One to One is a private midwifery service that is paid for by the NHS. The NHS pays One to One for each woman that transfers her care over to them. The service started on the Wirral, Merseyside, but is currently being rolled out across the country. Pregnant women can self-refer to the service.
